OILS PHYSICAL REFINING AND DEODORIZING TECHNOLOGY

Traditionally oils refining from impurities is carried out using chemical agents. Excess fatty acids always present in crude oil can be disacidified with caustics (KOH, NaOH).  Thereby potash and sodium soaps arise. Thereafter the oil is washed off of the soaps with water, dried and then deodoration (i.e. stripping of highly volatile substancies, always existing in oils and developing specific smell, even odour, at temperature raise and pressure decrease) is carried out. All this leads to numerous intermediate operations, wastewaters, by-products, irreplaceable losses of part of raw materials, hence – to expensive and exceptionable, form the point of view of quality, technology.

Of all these disadvantages is technology based on oils physical refining and simalteneous deodorizing deprived. Its essence consists in stripping of highly volatile substancies and fatty acids in condictions of deep vacuum.

Advantages of this technology comparing to other technologies are given below.

• Exclusion of oil thermocycling (multiple heating and  cooling), that makes the technology energy-saving and upgrades the quality
• Lack of by-products
• Process integrity enables total automatization
• Stripping of highly volatile substancies and fatty acids allows to collect them and sell  as independent products.

Earlier on industrial implementation of such technology was impossible because of lack of corresponding vacuum equipment and reliable automized machinery running systems.
